It began for Mary Margaret and me when we bought Diversified Supplies in Waynesville, NC, from Chris Connor in February 2002. Twelve years and four mergers later, we have the best janitorial supply expertise of any company in our region.

Who We Are

When we bought Diversified Supplies back in 2002, our oldest child Olivia was one and our second of three children, Emma, was coming soon. Mary Margaret focused on the success of our small but growing family while I focused on the success of our small but growing business. The best value we received out of the purchase of Diversified Supplies is Amy Russell, our Office Manager. She was, is, and will be the backbone of the company. Amy and I worked hard and grew our business over 40% in two years. Still, we were too small and did not have enough expertise and name recognition to be a major player in our market. 2004 proved to be a key year for us. In May, we purchased Champion Supply, a company with over 30 years of experience in the business. With this acquisition, we picked up Bill Robinson who is a fixture in our region with over 40 years of experience and relationships in our region. By August, the company was re-named Champion Supply and both operations moved to our current location on Piney Park Road, just off Smoky Park Highway in West Asheville. Later in 2004, Mary Margaret made an even more impressive addition with our son Charlie, born in October.

In 2006 we grew again with the purchase of Johnson Supply in Haywood County. And in 2007 we bought out both Carolina Wholesale in Spruce Pine and Carolina Distributors in Franklin. These additions strongly added to our regional business and brought on several employees to bolster our expertise across the board. Our best addition here was Tony Trivette who ran Carolina Wholesale in Spruce Pine and grew up in Boone. Tony continues to work in his back yard taking care of his neighbors as our sales consultant.

In 2010 we added Paul Woodhouse who literally grew up in the business. The Woodhouses owned Standard Paper for generations and his grandfather Jack Woodhouse was once the President of ISSA, our industry’s association and convention operation. Paul is using all he has learned in that blood line to take care of customers in Asheville and the surrounding area. Our Inside Sales Manager is a native Floridian, Dawn Tabor, who moved to the Asheville area about 7 years ago and now resides in Haywood County. Dawn is in charge of ensuring that our significant investments in our operating systems and online catalog and purchasing systems provide maximum benefits to our customers.

The latest addition to our team is Tom Trimble who has moved up from the South Carolina coast to enjoy the mountains and his growing crew of grandchildren. Tom has been in the jansan business for decades with particularly advanced knowledge and skills in laundry and warewash.

In 2015 we opened our expansion. We had to add inventory space for our growing business and while we were at it, we added a training room as well as an upgraded kitchen and bathrooms for our team’s comfort. Hopefully you can hear the pep in their voices when you call!
